Seattle Times/NWjobs.com Career and Networking Event
Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM (PDT)
We've made some changes to the event. Rick Sass will be replaced by Sonja Price, career coach for Dynamo Careers. Sonja will provide networking tips as well as resume critques.
Bill Gregory, a career officer at Bastyr University, will give a presentation entitled "Expanding Opportunities by Talking about Your Unique Competencies." Bill also does career counseling through www.workfinding.com, which broadens the ways in which job and career searches market themselves and overcome obstacles.
As part of our Recession Generation series, The Seattle Times, in conjunction with NWJobs.com, is holding a networking event for young professionals on June 6. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with multilingual HR specialist Seia Milin, who, while working at Microsoft and Fluke Corporation, recruited undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students from top colleges. Miller will provide résumé critiques.
Attendees will be provided career tips from Rick Sass, a career coaching associate with Lee Hecht Harrison in Bellevue and an instructor at BellevueCollege, specializing in résumé and interview strategies.
We will have giveaways at the event. One attendee will win a NWJobs Career Makeover, which includes one-on-one career advice in exchange for having their photo and story featured in NWjobs.
Burgers and shakes will be provided by Dick's Drive-Ins and Community Forums Networks.
There are limited spots available for this event. To participate, you must be 18-26 years old and must register by June 4.
NWjobs.com features local and national job listings and stories that focus on workplace topics such as salaries and benefits and career advice from three bloggers (Natalie Singer, Randy Woods and Matt Youngquist). Each write one post per week within their topics of expertise.
The site also features an Events Calendar with listings for job fairs, workshops and networking opportunities.
